The Parashuram Kund is located in the State of Arunachal Pradesh in the district of Lohit. It is a Hindu pilgrimage which is near to the Brahmaputra plateau in the bottom part of River Lohit. The visitors will have to travel a distance of 21 kilometers from Tezu. The place is dedicated to Lord Parashuram where the people from Nepal often visit. In addition, many people from all over India came to this place to offer prayers. The devotees from the State of Assam and Manipur visit the Parashuram Kund. Here, more than 70,000 devotes as well as Sadhus take bath every year during Makar Sankranti in the month of January. In the winter season, the people take holy dip to wash off the sins according to Hindu traditions and believe. As per the Kalika Purana, Mahabharata and Bagavat Gita, Lord Parasurama came to this place and took bath to wash away his sins. The great saint had killed the Kshatriyas as they killed the father of Parasurama and initiated war with Brahmins. Parasuram was a Brahmin and it was not good for Brahmins to wage war and therefore, he had to get rid of his sins by taking bath in the Brahma Kund.

The location of the Parashuram Kund was created by the sadhu that existed till 1950. But that place was destroyed by an earthquake and in that incident the north eastern parts were wiped out and the Kund disappeared. The people around had take strong initiative to rebuild the Kund. But massive rocks have entrenched in a mystifying manner in spherical arrangement in the river bed which therefore created yet another Kund in new place. The annual fair is carried out at the time of Makara Sankranti. In this festival, the tribes bring from the mountain ranges wild cows, curios, uncommon fur-rugs etc. The place is also wonderful for trekking, angling, hiking, river rafting, fishing etc near River Lohit. The railway station near to the Parasuram Kund is Tinsukia which is located nearly 120 kilometers and from that place the visitors can avail the assistance of buses that travels through Nansai. Buses can also be taken from Sadia. The airport which is close to the place is Tezu and Dibrugarh located in the State of Assam. No connecting railway line is there in Parasuram Kund. According to the proposal taken by the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries, a broad 122 kilometer Rupai Parasuram Kund railway line was finished. Another survey was also conducted for the Pasighat Tezu Parasuram Kund by the northeast frontier railways on a suggestion made by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The water in the Parasuram Kund is believed to be pure similar to that of River Ganga. The place at which the axe of Lord Parasurama was dropped is famously known as the Parasuram Kund. According to Kalika Purana, taking bath in the water in the Kund directs to emancipation. The Brahma Kund dot the sacred well is placed near to the Parasuram Kund. It is also believed that in the Brahma Kund the Lord Parasuram had made an opening with his axe in between the hills that facilitates River Brahmaputra to flow through it. In the ancient literatures the Parasuram Kund, seat of King Bhishmak, Sivalinga and Tamreswari temple are mentioned. These places can also be visited by the tourist when coming to Parasuram Kund. The religious festivals that are conducted in the north eastern areas lasts for a month.

The Parasuram Kund is very stunning in addition to the religious importance. It is also easily reachable as all the important towns are located near to the Kund. The place is suitable for visit during the months of November to February. The town is enhancing and is well known for its attractiveness. To stay in this place, the Circuit House is placed in Tezu and the visitors can stay in the nearby hotels.
