Girgaon Chowpatty beach also known as Girgaon is one of the most beautiful beaches located in the heart of Mumbai city and connecting Marine Drive in the Girgaon region of Mumbai. The beach is famous for Ganapati Visarjan (immersion) during the Ganesh Chaturthy – a ten day festival celebrated in whole Maharashtra every year. The location is a sigh of relief to many and a perfect weekend spot to hang out with friends or family after the hustle and bustle of daily life. Features with long stretched white sand spreading over it and the idyllic sun set in the horizon of Arabian Sea engulfing the beach both sides absolutely a soul soothing view  that no wants to escape. The Girgaon Chowpatty beach has become home to many food vendors providing various local dishes including ice cream, chaats and roasted peanuts etc to the daily visitors. Some stalls are also available offering children rides and toys.

 Located in close proximity to Charni road station in south Mumbai the Girgaon Chowpatty beach is quite animated and highlighted with various activities. People visiting here often entertained by local storyteller, snake charmers and astrologer. Small toddler cars, Merry-go-rounds are also available for kids that create quite an environment in the beach and superb color lighting during night gives the beach an impressive look. The horse riding is also available in the beach and Tourists often enjoy Yoga and body massage in fresh air of the beach. Local vendors are spreading over the beach and selling Baraf Gola, ice cream and Pani Puri along with other food items underneath the Sun. Tourists visiting the beach during the Ganesh Chaturthy can enjoy the ten-day festival and witness the immersion of massive idol of lord Ganesh at the beach. Apart from Ganesh Chaturthy, festivals like Ramlina also being celebrated here every year. A huge effigy of Ravan is erected on sand and burnt by the end of the festival.

The beach can be visited anytime during day or night. The beach is little over crowded during the evening time. It’s advisable not to visit the location during rainy season as high tide and heavy rain can be hazardous to the tourist. The post monsoon weather is quite pleasant and can be visited the beach as there is a little chance of sudden cloudburst.   There are a few places near the Girgaon Chowpatty beach and worth to see. Hanging Garden, Wilson College and Babulnath Temple near the beach have been frequently gathered by huge people. Places like Taraporewala Aquarium , Queen Necklace are also regularly visited.

The location is well connected and can be accessed easily. The nearest railway station to the beach is Church gate station and from there one can pick available public transports including Buses, Taxis etc. to reach the destination.
