The Daporijo is located 327 kilometers away from Itanagar in the State of Arunachal Pradesh. To reach Ziro from Daporijo, one has to travel a distance of 160 kilometers. The place is the headquarters to the District of Upper Subansiri which is placed near to River Subansiri. The town is very beautiful consisting of suspension bridges that are constructed with bamboo and cane that pass above River Subansiri. From this we can understand the craftsmanship of the tribal people living here. In Daporijo, the Sigem-Daporijo and Kamala Reserve forest are important sights for the tourists. These forests offer abundant varieties of fauna and gives chance for fishing, rafting, and angling in the River Subansiri. Additionally, the museum as well as the craft centre gives an idea of the history, tradition and culture of the people in Daporijo. Since the place is located at a height of 600 feet, it presents amazing environmental beauty to the viewers.

Subansiri River

The River Subansiri is otherwise called as Gold River due to its gold dust. It extends to almost 32,640 square kilometers and said to be the tributary of River Brahmaputra. It is the largest branch of the Brahmaputra consisting of a length of 442 kilometers. The River has its origin in China from the Great Himalayas and joins Brahmaputra by getting through south east part of India.

Meghna Cave Temple

The Meghna Cave Temple is one of the places of religious importance and lots of pilgrims visit this place every year. The cave is devoted to Lord Siva and it consists of some hill caves and small beautiful town that magnetizes the viewers. The main festival in the temple is Maha Sivaratri. The temple is deemed to be carved before 5000 years and found again in the year 1962. It is located at a height of about 300 feet on the hill ranges and artificial steps are constructed to enter the temple. The scene from inside the cave to the outer part is stunning. The viewers get the wonderful opportunity to see panorama of mountains and thick forests. To reach the cave, one has to travel 20 kilometers from Daporijo. It will be convenient to hire taxi or rickshaw to reach the temple. The nearest railway station or airport is at Dibrugarh and from there we will have to take bus or taxi. Ziro is also nearby place consisting of beautiful mountain ranges and can experience cold weather even during summer. From there, taxi can be availed to Daporijo where facilities are adequately taken by the tourists. The references are made regarding the temple in Kali Purana where it is stated that the temple is devoted to Lord Lakulisha. It is the 28th personification of Shiva in 28th Kaliyuga of 7th Manvantara that belong to Varah Kalpa.

The city is famous for various tribes who are inhabited in the place and their civilization is notable for the new visitors. It is also pertinent that the home-grown handicrafts and work of art created by the tribal people are vibrant and exclusive, making the place a wonderful tourist spot in India.  The articles made out of bamboo and the piece of clothing is good keepsakes that can be kept for ever to remember the momentous seconds in life. These products can be availed without difficulty from the bazaar. The women are mainly engaged in weaving, animal husbandry, agriculture, handicraft works etc.

The place is suitable for trekking and other amusements. Trekking is famous as it the suitable method to walk around the natural magnificence of the city and the nearby countryside. Another attraction is the age old tribal villages like Mori, Raga and Tamin. The best time to visit the place is in the months of October and November during winter season. During this period, the climate will be favorable for the visitors. The food and accommodation are available in the main city and also in the nearby stations.
