Tourist Places in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh

In India, there are numerous places that are most beautiful each having its own character and importance. The generous magnificence that the nature has given to mankind is away from narration. Even there are places that always keep the attention of people from its natural grip. This description very well matches the district of ‘Tawang’ situated in Arunachal Pradesh. Tawang keeps a man under its gorgeous shade that gifted the nature with one of the eye-catching places in the world. The Tawang is located around a height of 10000 feet higher than the sea level. This beautiful place is encircled with lakes and waterfalls. When describing the place, the place is captivating with Tibet located at the north portion, Bhutan at the south, Sela ranges at the east located in West Kameng.  Other main tourist spots are wonderful valleys, historic places, dazzling waterfalls and many more that gives decisive knowledge to the visitor.

Sela Pass

One of the most central and common tourists spot in Tawang is the Sela Pass which is often known as the ‘heaven on earth’, placed in the State of Arunachal Pradesh. This place has dazzling look with amazing sight and scenery. The Sela Pass is said to be the mountain pass with high-altitude. This is the unique pass that can be visited in the motor vehicle. Only through this path a person can reach the district of Tawang. When visiting this place in winter season, the visitor can experience the beauty of the spectacular snow clad which is not a frequent scene in this place. Tawang Monastery

The Tawang monastery is another tourist spot in the district of Tawang. The Tawang monastery is said to be the largest monastery in our country and in Asia its stands in the second place. This sight is located at the landscape of picturesque and constituted by the Mera Lama Lodre Gyasto. In 17th century this place was established which gradually turned into one of the main visiting places in India. The admirers of the Buddha give far significance to the monastery in Tawang. The monks of Buddha study the fundamental spirit and nature of the Buddhist traditions from the monastery. Taktsang Gompa

The Taktsang Gompa is located around 45 kilometers from the city of Tawang. The people of Tawang believe that the Taktsang Gompa was privileged by Guru Padmasambhava when he visited Tawang in 18th century. The Gompa is situated near an eye-catching sight that attracts the viewers. The place is encircled by coniferous forests, mountains and peaks that are placed at the edge of the mount that gives pleasant experience. It is certain that the visitors will get in high spirits by its calm environment.

Gorichen Peak

The Gorichen peak located in Tawang increases the challenging spirit in a person by its unique features. The place is perfect for adventurous trips like that of great Himalayas and good place for trekking. The Gorichen peak is about a height of 22500 feet and regarded as the highest peak in the State of Arunachal Pradesh. The peak presents glorious sight with beauty beyond comparison with a splendid peak before the eyes.

Shonga-tser Lake

The Shonga-tser Lake is the renowned lake in the State of Arunachal Pradesh. The lake was formed as a result of an earthquake in the year 1971. Before that time, the place where the present lake is situated was grassland where the cattle were fed by the people living in that place. The lake could be seen with snow-rounded peaks as well as beautiful valley that give good snap to the visitors. Wide-variety of photographs can be taken with the amazing views.

Nuranang Waterfalls

It is most significant to say that Tawang has presented to the nature lovers with lots of fabulous sights like peaks, valleys, lakes and waterfalls. Likewise, Tawang is famous for Nuranang Waterfalls which is also known as Jang falls that is the centre of attraction for tourists. The waterfalls got the name Jang falls as it is located in the famous Jang city coming in between Bomdila and Tawang. The waterfall has a height of 100 meter and the person has to travel at about 40 kilometers from Tawang to reach the waterfalls. The source of the waterfalls is from the Sela pass from its northern angle. Thereafter it shapes the Nuranang River and changes into waterfalls and subsequently falls to the river Tawang. There is a Hydel power station near the waterfalls which can be visited by tourists. The waterfalls through different large and small rocks and between red and green leaves are a fabulous point on the environment.

Pankang Teng Tso Lake

The traveler has to travel a distance of 17 kilometers to reach the famous Pankang Teng Tso Lake or the Ptso Lake. It is wonderful that at the time of winter season, the lake freezes and the places near the lake is suitable for skiing. Moreover in summer season, people get the rare opportunity of water moving gradually and here the visitor can enjoy even the least murmur of environment. Another point of attraction to this place is the glowing rhododendron flowers as well as the diverse kinds of birds in various shades and colors that contribute more beauty to the lake.

Bumla Pass

It will not be a tiring journey to travel a distance of 37 kilometers from Tawang to reach the well-known Bumla pass. This is because this adventurous place is not only famous for its exquisiteness but it is the border between India and China situated at about 16000 feet high that gives the visitors memorable moments. When the altitude increases, there will be difficulty in breathing and we will feel uneasy to travel in the motor vehicle. The roads are not comfortable all along the way. Trekking is the best way to travel to this height due to the less availability of oxygen as well as the high snowfall. The perfect time to have a visit to the Bumla Pass is from the month of May to October. It is also said that the Bumla pass was often used by the Dalai Lama for the purpose of fleeing from Tibet and to get into the Indian Territory.

Bap Teng Kang Waterfalls

The Tawang district is renowned for the stunning waterfalls, the Bap Teng Kang waterfall being one of them. The waterfall can be seen 82 kilometers from the Tawang town and has a height of approximately 100 feet. Besides, the people often visit this waterfall due to its eye-catching sight. The green environment and the capacity to accelerate spirit of nature lovers is the fundamental feature of the waterfall. The waterfall is preserved tidily and hence it draws the attention of the viewers to swimming.

Jaswant Garh

The Jaswant Garh is a place of historical importance. In 1962, at the stage in Indo-China war, Jaswant Singh Rawat battled against the Chinese troop single-handedly. He was placed at a height of 10000 feet for long three days till his death. The post which Jaswant Singh held is the Jaswanth Garh. The place is situated 21 kilometers starting from the Sela Pass on the road to reach Tawang.
